The city of Delhi that I live in is the capital of India. It is situated along the banks of Yamuna River and it's just about midway up on the country's east coast. Delhi had been a settlement for over thousand years until Shah Jahan, emperor of Mughal dynasty, decided to make it his capital city in 1649. A new walled city was built besides ancient Delhi and both settlements were merged to form one cohesive town. However despite many changes and innovations over time, Delhi had remained a culturally rich and diverse metropolis with people from all parts of India living together peacefully side by side. It was a common practice to call an urban and suburban area outside and beyond the old city as 'Delhi' and the inhabitants were called 'Delhiwalla'. This is an interesting place where all people of India live together, learn together, work together and fight for India's Freedom. This is also the city that has witnessed many changes in history such as: •The building of several structures by Mughal Emperors that established the magnificent architectural heritage of Delhi. •Great Assize Courts that allowed common people to seek justice at their doorstep even without lawyers.
